message-questionFrequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common questions about TiLT: sessions, uploads, avatars, AI Instructor (Albert), assessments, and billing.

Getting Started

What modes can I use to create learning content?

You can create content in Study or Research mode (recommended for Slide Translation). You can also generate Briefs and Reels; these will be created successfully, but their formatting differs from the standard slide-translation layout.

What’s the difference between Study and Research?

  • Study Mode: Interactive, multimedia sessions guided by a personal study buddy. Produces multiple short video segments for shorter attention spans and Socratic learning. Outputs downloadable PDFs and PPTX.

  • Research Mode: Deep dives with custom lessons and a research assistant; can translate presentation text while preserving formatting. Produces one detailed video (view-only, not downloadable) plus downloadable presentations and PDFs.

Uploads & Supported Content

What file types and sizes can I upload?

  • Up to 10 files per upload.

  • Each file: max 50 pages (pages beyond 50 are ignored).

  • Total combined size: ≤ 25 MB.

Can I upload folders?

Yes. You can drag-and-drop an entire folder, or select multiple files. Folders can include documents, presentations, images, and videos.

Do images and videos need descriptions?

Yes. To embed media in presentations (with animations), include a matching .txt description file:

  • diagram1.pngdiagram1.txt (e.g., “A labeled anatomical diagram of the human heart showing chambers, valves, and blood flow.”)

  • For videos, include a similar .txt description. Note: Existing videos are added as-is; voice-overs are not generated for uploaded videos at this time.

Can I import from websites?

Yes—use the Website tab and paste a public URL. You can choose the language, mode (Study/Research/Brief/Reel), and whether to reuse images from the source. Security note: Uploads are limited to a predefined list of allowed domains.

Slide Translation

What counts as a “pre-made presentation”?

A ready-made slide deck created with tools such as PowerPoint, LibreOffice Impress, LaTeX Beamer, Reveal.js, or Markdown editors. Slides may include bullets, images, equations, and references.

Will my formatting be preserved?

Yes—TiLT translates only translatable text and preserves your background, layout, and overall look & feel. Ideal for educators and consultants with legacy decks.

What won’t be translated?

  • Images, complex word art, and equations are retained as-is.

  • Reference pages are automatically detected and left untranslated to preserve citations.

  • Complex layouts may experience minor distortions.

Languages & Voice

Is TiLT multilingual?

Yes. TiLT supports multiple languages and returns both text and voice in the same language/dialect you select (where supported).

Can I stop TiLT from reusing images from a website?

Yes. When importing via URL, select the option to not reuse images directly from the source site.

AI Instructor (Albert)

What is Albert?

Albert is your AI study companion available in every session (created or shared). Albert responds in voice and text, matching the instructor’s voice and the language/dialect you use.

How do I start Albert?

Click the microphone icon and speak in any supported language. Albert leverages on-screen materials and full session context for accurate answers and references.

What does Albert output?

  • Text Answer: A detailed response that also becomes context for your follow-up questions.

  • Speech Explanation: A spoken version reinforcing the text answer.

How does Albert handle privacy and safety?

Albert includes safeguards to protect security and privacy and to prevent harmful or malicious misuse.

Avatars

What are avatars in TiLT?

Avatars are language- and culture-specific personas that make sessions more engaging by letting learners see and hear the instructor.

Which avatars do I get?

  • Standard packages: Access to default avatars.

  • TiLT Pro: Create a personalized avatar profile; the system can generate a look-alike and clone your voice (with consent).

Where are avatars shown?

Avatars appear only on select, high-value pages to minimize distraction.

Can I disable avatars?

Yes. Go to Account settings (from your profile menu) to disable avatars.

Assessments (Quizzes & Unit Tests)

What assessments can I add to videos?

  • Quiz: Short checks for understanding.

  • Unit Test: Broader evaluations covering a full section or unit.

How do I add them?

Use the drag-and-drop interface to place Quizzes or Unit Tests between sessions or within video content. This feature is optional and designed for creators and educators.

Account Settings

Where do I change my profile, password, or theme?

Go to Account → Settings to update your name, email, password, Automated Emails, and theme (Light/Dark). You can enable AI Instructor and set AI Instructor Preference (e.g., male-presenting).

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Use Delete account in settings. This action is permanent—export needed data first.

Subscription & Billing

Where do I view or change my plan?

Go to Account → Subscription info → Plan info to review your plan, renewal date, and upgrade/downgrade options.

How do I update my payment method?

Open Credit card info to add or update your card.

Where can I find invoices?

Visit Billing History to view and download PDF invoices.

Troubleshooting

My upload failed—what should I check?

  • File limits: ≤ 10 files, ≤ 50 pages/file, ≤ 25 MB total.

  • Include .txt descriptions for images/videos you want embedded.

  • Confirm the domain is allowed if uploading via URL.

Albert isn’t responding—why?

  • Ensure your mic permission is granted.

  • Confirm the selected language is supported.

  • Check your internet connection.

My translated slides look slightly off—can I fix this?

Minor layout shifts can happen with complex designs. You can manually adjust them in the exported PPTX or PDF.
